CH+QS Architecture & Resources Madrid, Spain

Jose Maria De Churtichaga and Cayetana Quadra-Salcedo founded the firm CHURTICHAGA+QUADRA-SALCEDO architects ch+qs in Madrid in 1995. Their work focuses mainly in Public Buildings and have designed City councils, Swimming pools, Libraries, Cultural Centers, Kiosks, Cabins, Great houses, Establishments in the Sahara for petroliferous companies, Boats, Furniture, Books, Typographies…
ch+qs have won several national and international competitions and Jose’s work has been awarded and published in national and
international publications and books. The work of the ch+qs is focused on the intimate relation between physical and unphysical
aspects, trying to understand architecture as a sensorial interface, as an atmosphere between the man and the environment. In
a deliberate rejection to the specialization, Jose Maria De Churtichaga and Cayetana Quadra-Salcedo believe on “transfusions”
between all the creative problems, independently of its nature and climbs.

Jose has been Design Studio Professor at the School of Architecture of Madrid from 2003 to 2008. Since 2008, he is Associate Dean
of IE School of Architecture and Director for Undergraduate Architecture Studies and has lectured at prestigious institutions in USA, UK, Germany, Norway, India, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, Italy. Among the distinctions are MIES VAN DER ROHE prizes (selected), ENOR International Young Architects Prize (1st. Prize)., PREMIO COMUNIDAD DE MADRID (1st. Prize), PREMIO BIGMAT (1st. Prize). The work of ch+qs has also received numerous prizes and distinctions in recognition to its work. Recently they have been awarded the Frames 2019 Jury Award for Best Co-working Space of the Year for Impact Hub Piamonte, Madrid. The Awards identify and
honour the world’s best interior projects, but also the people behind them.
